Ancient, Wild and Courageous | Faith and Film

Feb 2, 2018 @ 6:30 pm  —  Feb 2, 2018 @ 9:30pm

This month’s film deftly balances dark themes and fantastical elements to deliver an engrossing and uncommonly moving entry in the crowded coming-of-age genre.

In this visually spectacular drama a tween deals with his mother’s illness, a less-than-sympathetic grandmother and bullying classmates. He finds a most unlikely ancient, wild, and relentless ally that guides him on a journey of courage, faith, and truth.

“…a work of lovely darkness.”

“…a portrait of coping that’s both fascinating and heartbreaking.”

“…an engrossing tragic fantasy, sustained by genuine sentiment.”

“Evocative, mysterious and shot through with bruising humor and heartbreak… gets you where you live. There’s real magic in it. ”
